About our branch

The OUGS Mainland Europe is a branch of the Geological Society of the Open University; it was founded in the year 2000 and covers Continental Western Europe and beyond.

The aims are to bring together OU students or former students living outside the UK, who have a common interest in geology, and those who share this interest and would like to participate in such a widely spread organisation, to collect and disseminate geological information, to encourage contacts and to organise events and field trips in members’ countries, and to places of interest further afield.
